We are happy to announce the Third Caribbean Scholastic Invitational, to be held in Carolina, Puerto Rico on Saturday, June 14, 2008.

We had a modest beginning with the 2006 event. Several more Caribbean nations entered last year, with more to come in 2008

Means of Competing

There are two means of competing at the Caribbean Scholastic Invitational (CSI), scheduled to be held in Carolina (San Juan), Puerto Rico on Saturday, June 14, 2008.

1. Entering and paying the entry fees ($10.00 per event). Any legitimate high school student (Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior) who is (was) eligible to compete through the 2007-2008 school year is allowed to enter. No travel expenses to or within Puerto Rico will be provided.
2. By means of selection to the NSSF Select Team. All travel expenses for 14 male and 14 female athletes will be borne by the National Scholastic Sports Foundation. A committee will select the team to compete in the following events (note minimum standards for selection):

* The events selected per gender are based on the history of the meet and events most popular among the Caribbean nations. There will be 14 girls and 14 boys selected. There may be more than one athlete selected per event.

Conditions for selection of the NSSF Select Team:

1. High school sophomore or junior during the 2007-2008 school year.
2. Competing at the 2008 Nike Indoor Nationals (exceptions area) the athlete has a State Indoor Championship meet during the same weekend, or b) the athlete does not compete during the indoor season or state rules prohibit competition).
3. Competing at the 2008 Nike Outdoor Nationals (exception is if the athlete has a legitimate chance of making the IAAF World Junior Championship team, which qualifying meet is the same weekend as the Nike Outdoor Nationals).
4. Evidence during the 2008 outdoor season that the athlete is in competitive form.

The Select Team will be chosen no later than May 1, 2008.
